The 1999-2002 24 valve ISB Cummins Diesel/Dodge Ram was a 215-245 hp engine that is air-to-air charge air cooled, the compressor housing has a v-band outlet and a 4” compressor inlet.
All 1999 trucks, and 2000-2002 manual transmission trucks were equipped stock with a wastegated HX35W turbo with the standard 70mm dia (60mm exducer) turbine wheel, a 12cm2 wastegated turbine housing and a new generation 54mm inducer, small major diameter compressor wheel.
2000-2002 auto transmission trucks came stock with an HY35W turbo (identifiable with a v-band holding the turbine housing to the center housing) this turbo has a a 9cm2 turbine housing and the same compressor wheel as the manual transmission trucks. With the exception of the power elbow and complete turbochargers, the upgrade parts listed below will not fit these HY turbos! For these applications we recommend a complete turbo changeout. With the first stage of upgrade being the manual transmission HX turbocharger, Followed by any of the complete turbo upgrades for higher horsepower applications.
On these applications most people want a larger compressor wheel and housing for more air flow and a stock or larger turbine housing for less restriction, lower exhaust gas temperatures and more top end power (the stock housing works great on stock trucks but becomes too restrictive by about 285hp).
